UI Automation with Playwright

Practice project: Playwright tests for a public demo web app, with readable assertions and a CI workflow.

Status: Planned. This page describes the plan and scope. Results and artifacts will be added only after the work is done.

Context

An independent practice project automating key user flows of a public demo web app built for testing practice.

Role

Sole author. Practice work, not client work.

Objective

Automate stable regression checks for critical flows (login, search, checkout-style flows) so changes can be validated quickly.

Scope

In scope

  • Happy-path and key negative flows
  • Cross-browser runs (Chromium, Firefox, WebKit)
  • GitHub Actions workflow

Out of scope

  • Visual regression and performance testing

Approach

  1. Pick flows from a manual regression checklist
  2. Use role-based locators and web-first assertions
  3. Keep tests independent and data-driven where useful

Artifacts

  • Test repository — not yet published
  • CI run — not yet published

Results

Not yet available.

Reflection & next steps

Next: compare the same flows in Selenium to document the trade-offs.
